Hello and Welcome

Hello and welcome to Inky Pinkies Stamping. Whether you're a first timer or a regular to my site, come on in and have a look around. Essentially I am an Independent Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator and that's what I'll be showcasing here, occassionally I will find something funky to alter and I'll let you know where it's from, but other than that, all stamps and accessories are from Stampin' Up!®. Please feel free to leave comments on any thing that grabs your eye and I hope you enjoy your visit.

Be sure to keep a look out for my groovy competitions. They are never based on the best, they are won by participating, so be you a seasoned stamper or novice it could be you who is chosen by the random name picker (His name is Billy and he's 2 years old.lol).

So once again, welcome and thanks for stopping by. Warmest wishes for your day.

Melanie Packham.

Sweet Dreams

French_flairSigh, this is the only photo I ever managed to get of my baby Billy sleeping. The layout that I used for this sweet little page is from Becky Fleck's Page Maps which is an awesome resource for scrapping and card layouts alike.

I started with a 6x6 piece of Enchante Designer Series Paper and a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock on which I used the French Flair background stamp with Sage Shadow ink. I then layered these together with the photograph. I used the filagree stamp from the Carte Postal stamp set with Chocolate Chip ink across the top left hand corner of the page.

I sponged another piece of Very Vanilla card with Sage Shadow ink and cut it out to fit a small oval window from the Aged Copper Hodge Podge Hardware. The sentiment that I used is from one of my favourite retired sets Happy Harmony. To get the single word from the stamp, I used a Blender Pen dipped in Chocolate Chip ink and inked up the word "Dream" and stamped it on to the oval. I like to use Stampin' Dimensionals with these windows as they push the cardstock up for a snug fit in the frame.

I then finished it off with a piece of Ivory Organdy Ribbon, threaded through the eyelet holes of the window and secured it all in place with Mini Glue Dots. As a final touch, I added a couple of coordinating brads on the lower left corner for balance.

Delightful Daisies

Delightful_dasies This card came about from a challenge on my demonstrators forum, the theme for the week is "blue and yellow". It was a lot of fun to do and I ended up with a bunch of these little flowers left over from playing around with the design.

So I picked out the stamp set "All Wrapped Up" and decided on Tempting Turquoise and Yoyo Yellow for the colours, the colours from the Bold Brights family really suit this style of stamp set.

I started by stamping the jar in Basic Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock, I then used the Stampin' Pastels (Tempting Turquoise) and a Sponge Dauber to rub on the water, I used the reverse masking technique to keep the card clean. By gently running a blender pen across the chalk, I managed to get a more watery effect. By placing a mask at the top of the water, I was able to get a nice crisp finish to the flower stems that were stamped using Green Galore ink.

I stamped the flowers in Basic Black ink and coloured them in using the Stampin' Pastels (Yoyo Yellow and Only Orange) and a Blender Pen. After cutting them out and playing around with the accent ones on the lower right, I adhered them in the same pattern for both the stemmed and accent flowers, on the outer two I used SNAIL Adhesive and the middle ones I popped out with Stampin' Dimesionals.

I was so happy with the end result, I photographed it, wrote in it and posted it out to a good friend of mine the very next day.

Warmest wishes for your day.

A Special Gift

2007_031520070122_5

I really enjoyed making this set as a gift for my sister-in-law, Cleo. I have to admit that covering journals could become a little addictive. I just love the "Looks Like Spring" stamp set. It's so versatile with a variety of floral images and mini backgrounds too and the co-ordinating flower punch that is available as well makes it all the easier to use.

I started by covering a Stampin' Up! 5x5 On Board Journal (Available in the Summer Mini Catalogue) with some patterned paper from the Spring Flowers collection using a glue stick. I then used a sanding block to rub the edges of the paper back and expose a fraction of the board underneath, with a Stampin' Sponge I inked around the edges of the journal with Chocolate Chip Ink. To help make the sentiment stand out, I embossed it using Whisper White Craft Ink and white embossing powder. Then a piece of light pink grosgrain ribbon has been poked through one of the spiral binding holes and tied around the cover, I used Mini Glue Dots to secure the ribbon for a super hold.

Next is the stamped embellishment, I have used Pretty in Pink And Very Vanilla cardstock. On to the vanilla I have stamped the solid diamond pattern in So Saffron ink, I then layered the dotted diamonds with Perfect Plum Ink using my Stamp-a-ma-jig stamp positioner, giving me an argyle patterned background. I then stamped on a couple of flowers. This is the point where I scrunched up both pieces of card and ironed them flat-ish again with my hands. I roughed up the edges with the blade of my scissors to add to the weathered effect . I stamped more flowers in Pretty In Pink and Perfect Plum, I cut out the large one and punched the smaller ones, I also stamped and cut out the "friends" sentiment block in Certainly Celery and roughed the edges once again. Knowing that a journal is something to be used on a regular basis I wanted to strengthen the petals on the large flower so the wouldn't be quite so bendable. I have done this with a great  deal of satisfaction (and fun) with Crystal Effects. Everything was stuck in place using SNAIL Adhesive.

I duplicated the whole process onto Chocolate Chip cardstock for the greeting card. I then made some page dividers for the journal, once again using Very Vanilla and Pretty In Pink cardstock. I used the Tab punch to create the tabs and secured them with gold eyelets. I then used the spiral punch to make a perforated edge that will fit on to the journal spine where ever they are needed. Both of these punches are available in the Summer Mini Catalogue.

If you'd like to win a copy of this card just leave a comment for this post, Billy will draw a name on the 14th of Feb and I'll announce the winner on the 15th.
